Buttercream Icing is one of those must-haves on any cake or cupcake. With just a few simple ingredients to start off with – butter, icing sugar and water- you can then add any colour or flavouring such as vanilla and cinnamon or cocoa for chocolate butter cream icing.
270g icing sugar
140g softened unsalted butter
- Sift your icing sugar to get rid of any lumps – no one likes lumpy icing!
- Make sure your butter is softened. Leave out of fridge for several hours (depending on weather) or put into microwave for up to 15 to 20 seconds.
- Always opt to use electric beaters to beat your buttercream. You will end up with a deliciously whipped and fluffy buttercream!
- Invest in a piping bag and nozzle to give you varying styles of decoration.
