Drakes are proud to announce a Key Partnership with St John Ambulance in South Australia.

This partnership sees Roger Drake’s involvement with St John coming full circle from being a St John cadet as a 15-year-old and allows St John to continue to provide South Australians with vital medical support. A little know fact – being a grocer wasn’t Roger’s first career choice!

“As a child, I had aspirations of becoming a doctor, so I thought at 15 years old [a cadetship with St John] was a good opportunity to not only understand a little bit about the medical profession but also at the same time undertake something that I thought was valuable to the community,” Roger explains. “During my time as a St John Cadet, I attended numerous community events in South Australia as a volunteer along with my fellow St John cadets and senior St John representatives. I believed my work with St John was an important part of serving the community and at the same time through the skills I developed I was able to help those in need.”

“My work with St John was the start of my contribution to the community and I realised very early that you cannot take out of this world unless you give back; and this has been something I have personally and professionally been passionate about since.”

This key partnership between Drakes and St John is just another way Drakes gives back to the community. St John relies heavily on selfless donations from the public and partnerships with like-minded South Australia brands to fund their charitable work in the South Australian community. The partnership with Drakes Supermarkets specifically allows St John to further train additional volunteers, upgrade equipment and facilities and further their various community services.

“We could not be happier to have Drakes on board as a Presenting Partner with St John,” says Ray Creen, CEO of St John SA. “Without the support of generous sponsors like Drakes, the work of St John in the community would not be possible.”

Through this key partnership, will mean that more volunteers can be trained and equipped to provide medical assistance at events across the state, provide free first aid training to primary school children, further reach of the St John Ambulance community first aid education sessions as well as other charitable work in the community.

You’ll start seeing logos across St John Ambulance commercial vehicles, uniforms and CPR mannequins, and you’ll also be able to find St John First Aid kits in selected Drakes SA stores.
