The Barossa Fine Foods Story
For Alex Knoll, Business Development Manager of Barossa Fine Foods, making smallgoods is a family tradition.

“I remember Thursday nights at my grandparents’ farm at One Tree Hill, where Dad would be making sausages and smoking ham; and then on the weekend selling these products in the Central Markets” says Alex. “Fast forward to today, we employ over 320 staff, producing locally in South Australia and we also work with another great family business in Drake Supermarkets, supplying our fantastic products to their customers.”

With four generations’ experience in Bavarian smallgoods, the Knoll family know the importance of making a fresh, local product. “You start off with really good fresh ingredients and then it’s about enhancing the flavour – whether it’s salting, smoking, or cooking – to make it a fantastic product.”

“As a family company, the biggest thing for Barossa Fine Foods is looking after their suppliers. “We work closely with farmers and have a direct relationship to help support them.”

“The really exciting thing working with Drakes Supermarkets is they have an amazing plan for growth. We look forward to continuing this relationship in the future.”
