Love meat? Then we reckon you’ll love v2!

v2food is a proudly Australian start up making delicious and sustainable plant based meat. We know many people are trying to eat less meat for environmental and health reasons, but we also know those meaty classics like spag bol and beef burgers are too good to give up!

That’s why they’ve worked with the CSIRO to recreate the flavour and texture of meat you love, from the sustainable goodness of plants.

Whether you’re looking for a new meatless Monday centrepiece or you’re a long time vegetarian, we’re so excited for you to try v2. Our range of v2mince and v2burger patties look, cook and taste just like meat, making them perfect for all your classic recipes as well as new experiments.

Don’t believe us? Put v2 to the test in our house-favourite Spaghetti & Meatballs recipe below!

Your classic meatballs get an upgrade in this recipe with the addition of chili flakes and fresh herbs – perfect for pairing with a rich tomato sauce, your favourite pasta, and lashings of freshly grated parmesan.

Not a fan of spice? Just leave the chili flakes out.

Ingredients

500g v2mince
1 tsp chili flakes
1 tbsp chopped basil
Salt and pepper
500g spaghetti, cooked
Olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 tbsp dried oregano
1 tsp chili flakes
700ml passata
Parmesan cheese to serve
Chopped parsley to serve

Method

In a large mixing bowl combine v2mince with first tsp of chili flakes, chopped basil and salt and pepper to taste. Roll the mixture into 16 equal sized balls.

Heat olive oil in a large frypan on medium-high heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides and remove from the pan. Add an extra tbsp of olive oil and fry off the onion and garlic until just beginning to brown. Add oregano and chili flakes and stir through before adding passata and reduce heat to low. Return meatballs to the pan and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add cooked pasta and stir to warm through.

Serve with fresh grated parmesan and chopped parsley.
